Transportation Safety

PVPC Transportation staff work closely with Pioneer Valley member communities and Joint Transportation Committee (JTC) representatives to proactively identify and address transportation safety concerns throughout the region. Using the most recent High Crash Locations Report and other safety data sources, staff evaluate roadway corridors, intersections, and multimodal transportation facilities with documented safety issues or elevated crash histories.

Once priority locations are identified, PVPC provides technical assistance to member communities by conducting advanced transportation safety planning studies. These studies assess existing conditions, analyze crash patterns and contributing factors, engage local stakeholders, and develop data-driven recommendations to improve safety for all roadway users, including motorists, pedestrians, bicyclists, transit riders, and vulnerable road users. The resulting plans help communities position projects for future funding opportunities and advance improvements that create a safer and more efficient transportation network across the Pioneer Valley.
