Granby Open Space and Recreation Plan

Overview

The Town of Granby recently adopted its 2025–2032 Open Space and Recreation Plan, a community-driven roadmap to guide conservation and recreation efforts over the next seven years. Developed by the Granby Open Space and Recreation Committee with technical assistance from the Pioneer Valley Planning Commission and funded through the state’s District Local Technical Assistance Program, the plan outlines goals to protect the town’s natural resources, maintain its rural character, and expand recreational opportunities for residents of all ages. Public input played a central role in shaping the plan, including nearly 300 survey responses and community engagement at Granby’s annual DinoFest celebration.

The plan’s six overarching goals include: expanding access to recreation, protecting water resources, preserving open space and farmland, ensuring effective land management, and improving public awareness of the town’s open space resources. With this plan in place, Granby is well-positioned to protect its natural heritage and enhance its recreational infrastructure into the next decade.
