Transportation Intern

The Pioneer Valley Planning Commission (PVPC) is currently accepting applications for a transportation planning internship position in the transportation department. The responsibilities of this position include the installation and retrieval of traffic counting equipment as part of the Regional Traffic Counting Program, assist with transit planning activities, and Local Technical Assistance Program. Other duties include assistance with the preparation of traffic count summary reports and office support as well as collection of pertinent data for the Commission’s Pavement Management System and Congestion Management Process activities.

Appropriate candidates include ambitious and reliable active undergraduate college students with an interest in the field of transportation. Candidates will need to be available to work for up to 20 hours per week from February – May, 2025. This is a temporary position, and there are no fringe benefits associated with it, such as health insurance, paid vacation, or sick time. A valid Massachusetts State Driver’s License as well as a good driving record is required, and strong computer skills including knowledge of Geographic Information System (GIS) are desirable.
