The Town of Southwick successfully completed its Southwick 2040 Master Plan, a comprehensive, long-range planning document that will guide the town’s growth, preservation, and investment decisions over the next two decades. Developed with support from the Pioneer Valley Planning Commission (PVPC), the planning process engaged residents, local officials, and community stakeholders to address key topics such as housing, open space, infrastructure, economic development, and climate resilience.
Overview
This community-led process, facilitated by PVPC, included public forums, surveys, visioning workshops, and meetings with the Master Plan Advisory Committee and Planning Board to ensure broad participation and local ownership of the plan’s goals. The final plan reflects the shared values and aspirations of Southwick residents, balancing the preservation of the town’s rural character with opportunities for smart, inclusive growth. It provides a roadmap for future policy decisions and investments to enhance the quality of life in Southwick through 2040 and beyond.
This project was funded in part by District Local Technical Assistance, an annual program funded by the Legislature and Governor, and a planning assistance grant from the Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs. The remainder of the project was funded by town budget.
