An Action Plan to Expand the Green Infrastructure Network in the Day Brook Watershed

Overview

Day Brook has become known as the “The Secret Stream” or “La Corriente Secreta” because for much of its journey through the City of Holyoke it flows unseen. We hope that you will enjoy reading the Action Plan and looking at the poster that shows potential locations for expanding the network of green infrastructure stormwater management within the Day Brook watershed.

For this project PVPC partnered with Enchanted Circle Theater and the City of Holyoke both of which showed commitment and vision in imagining a different future for Day Brook.  PVPC is also grateful to willingness on the parts of MassDCR and Holyoke Medical Center to begin rethinking how stormwater is managed on properties they own within the Day Brook Watershed.  Most importantly, PVPC and project partners extend deepest appreciation for all the students at the Sullivan School who were so enthusiastically invested in learning about Day Brook and sharing the story with so many others in the City.

This project has been funded largely by the United States Environmental Protection Agency under an Urban Waters Small Grant to the Pioneer Valley Planning Commission.  The contents of these final documents do not necessarily reflect the views and policies of the Environmental Protection Agency, nor does the EPA endorse trade names or recommend the use of commercial products that may be mentioned in this document.
