Pioneer Valley Regional Safety Actin Plan

About the Safety Action Plan

Pioneer Valley Safe Streets Regional Safety Action Plan

The Pioneer Valley Safe Streets Plan solidifies the region’s commitment to implementing a Vision Zero and Safe System Approach to safety for all road users in the region. This Regional Safety Action Plan sets a goal to reduce traffic-related fatalities and serious injuries to zero by 2050.

Pioneer Valley Safe Streets presents a data-driven framework identifying high crash locations and sites with elevated risk due to roadway characteristics or land use. It outlines both site-specific, systemwide, and non-engineering safety enhancements designed to improve roadway safety and reduce the incidence of fatal or serious injuries among all road users, including pedestrians, bicyclists, motorcyclists, public transportation riders, and motorists.

This Plan enables communities in the Pioneer Valley Region to pursue federal grant funding through the Safer Streets and Roads for All program to design and construct recommended improvements. Collaborative investments to advance safety improvement projects will result in region-wide impacts that advance the Pioneer Valley’s goal to reduce fatalities and serious injuries along the region’s roadways.
