PVPC Conducts Riverwalk Survey
The Pioneer Valley Planning Commission's Transportation planning staff recently surveyed the characteristics of people that use the Springfield's Riverwalk and Bikeway. When complete, the survey will create a profile of users including where they live, their frequency of use and the impact the Riverwalk has had on their quality of life.
In addition to interviewing people on the Riverwalk, the survey included interviews with Springfield participants in Bike Commute Week and visitors to Springfield's Forest Park. One of the goals of the survey is to gauge the public's awareness and perception of the Riverwalk with the long-term objective of improving marketing and outreach.
The Springfield Riverwalk is a 3.7-mile trail that starts at Plainfield Street in Chicopee and travels south to Riverfront Park and the Basketball Hall of Fame. The Riverwalk follows the banks of the Connecticut River passing through a continuous greenbelt and offering majestic river views.
The results of that survey are now available in this report
