About Us

The Pioneer Valley Planning Commission (PVPC) is the Regional Planning Authority/Metropolitan Planning Organization for the Pioneer Valley Region of Western Massachusetts. Since 1962, the Pioneer Valley Planning Commission has worked to foster sustainable economic prosperity, protect the natural resources and maintain the high quality of life of the region. Serving the forty-three communities in Hampden and Hampshire Counties of western Massachusetts, PVPC staff work with community leaders, public agencies, residents, business owners, advocates, developers, academics, and many others throughout our urban, suburban, and rural communities on a variety of environmental, land use, economic, transportation, and community development projects. PVPC staff prepares comprehensive planning documents, zoning bylaws, water quality improvement programs, open space and natural resource protection plans, transit plans and implementation programs, GIS-based mapping products, community development grants, historic preservation plans, and many other plans and services for our local communities in the Pioneer Valley.
